The Getachew Bolodia Foundation The Getachew Bolodia Foundation (GBF) is a non-political and non profit making charity
organization established in November 1994
in memory of Dr Getachew Bolodia, who was Associate Professor of Biochemistry in the
Faculty of Medicine, Addis Ababa University (AAU).
Objective and MissionGBF is particularly devoted to the promotion of higher education and research in Ethiopia. It supports gifted and needy university students through offering fellowships in the fields of medicine, pharmacy and science. It also engages itself in disseminating scientific information by organising seminars, workshops and public lectures. The Getachew Bolodia foundation works with a number of partners which are currently supporting exactly the same or relatively the same cause. The operations of GBF are guided by a constitution approved by the members. The main organ of the GBF is the General Assembly, comprising members from different walks of life. The GBF Board, comprises 7 members and is elected for a four/year term by the General Assembly. Its main duty is to oversee the activities of the Foundation. The day-to-day operations are handled by the Secretariat that includes the Board’s Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, an auditor and an assistant, all of whom render their services on voluntary basis. The current members, elected on February 2004 by the Annual General Assembly Meeting on March 6, 2004, are :
The GBF has 7 corporate and over 40 full and life members.See Full Members Listing .See Five of the fellowship programms are managed by the GBF. Some of the members of the fellowship are listed below.Under each fellowship each fellow selected receives Birr 30/month. This has been raised to 50 Birr per month since September 2006.
