Fanaye Fellowship is a new fellowship that took off in the year 2005, through the initiative of Dr s Debrework Zewde, who is a well known Ethiopian scientist working in the World Bank.Dr Debrework is the principal donor to the Fanaye Fellowship but also manages to get contributions from her friends and colleagues.The fellowship targets needy female students from the Faculty of Science (AAU), which is the Alma Matter of Dr Debrework. Fifty female students benefit from the fellowship each year. The fellowship bears the name of Dr Debrework's mother, "Fanaye".
